Job summary

Lawrence Group, a building design, development and project delivery firm based in St. Louis, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team.

The role supports month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, while ensuring accuracy of financial records and assisting with various reporting tasks. The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of accounting experience and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger (GL) account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and maintenance of operational management GL accounts.
• Maintain and update records and reports related to profit and loss (P&L), liabilities, and fixed assets (FA).
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns and remittances.
• Prepare special financial reports as requested by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
• Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing activities to ensure timely and accurate employee compensation.
• Coordinate with the firm’s compliance service provider to track, prepare, and file firm license renewals, state registrations, and annual corporate reports, maintaining the firm’s good standing in every jurisdiction.
• Manage credit card entry and payment processing to reconcile transactions and maintain compliance with company policies.
• Provide support to the Controller and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for all tax and audit compliance requirements, including gathering necessary documentation and assisting with audit inquiries.
