Job summary

Pine Belt Communications is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Arlington, Alabama team. This full-time position involves hands-on accounting across payroll, AP, tax, and financial reporting, reporting to the Accounting Manager.

The ideal candidate has a accounting-related degree, GAAP knowledge, and strong Excel/Office skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Associate’s degree may be considered with right experience.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Team-oriented, adaptable, and willing to develop new skills.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll and maintain employee payroll, tax, and benefits records.
• Manage employee benefits, including 401(k) and insurance programs.
• Process accounts payable invoices, W-9 verifications, and check runs.
• Post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and submit required regulatory, compliance, and governmental reports.
• Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax reports and remit payments.
• Assist with audits and account reconciliations.
• Assist with financial statement review.
• Support the Accounting Manager with the month-end closing process.
• Serve as a backup to the Accounting Clerk and Accounting Manager.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed.
