To handle daily maintenance of the general ledger and other finance and budgeting tasks.
A minimum A. A. degree in Accounting or related field required.
Prior experience with a nonprofit or government funded entity, including exposure to grant funded revenue recognition, strongly preferred
Experience with Single Audit/Uniform Guidance compliance a plus
At least two years experience in accounting (general ledger, journal entries and financial statements) and bank reconciliation
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to the following
- Working knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting principles, highly preferred
- Assist in the preparation of all audits.
- Familiar with government grant and contract accounting, preferred
- Proficiency with multi-entity accounting platform such as Sage Intacct or a comparable system (i.e., Blackbaud, MIP, NetSuite)
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel
- Reconciles overdue receivables report with accounts receivables control account on a monthly basis (“Aging report.”)
- Coordinates with Accounting Manager with cash collection efforts.
- Prepares journal entries and maintains files and records supporting General Ledger transactions.
- Assist with accounts payable and supervise purchasing.
- Assist with the preparation of program budgets and revisions, and maintaining ongoing analysis of budgets.
- Analyzes accounts, transactions and procedures.
- Prepares financial reports on a timely basis.
- Maintains inventory of fixed assets and conducts physical verification as scheduled.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Standing and sitting for long periods of time along with being able to move and walk to various locations; climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, bending, twisting, and lifting (20-25 lbs.).
- Ability to see, hear and talk clearly in order to receive instruction and to give instructions as a supervisor.
- Work indoors in temperature controlled environment.
- Read clearly, proof, and analyze complex reports including both text and numbers.
- High level concentration and attention to detail for extended periods of time required to produce reports and entries.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work and make decisions regarding correct formatting of work and implement same; interact appropriately with others.
- Must be able to work with numbers and formulas in interpreting various text and reports.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Detailed knowledge of accounting, including making adjustments in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger on a computerized accounting system.
- Ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy, and ability to make difficult mathematical computations.
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and technical or legal terminology.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, a variety of government employees and management.
