Staff Accountant: Path to Senior Finance Leader

Job summary

All States Materials Group is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our West Springfield, MA office of MA Office. This position supports treasury functions and tax filing processes, ensuring accurate records and timely reporting.

You will develop expertise across assigned areas and report to the Assistant Controller. The ideal candidate has a BS/BA in accounting or related field, 2+ years of audit-focused experience, US GAAP knowledge, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
• 2+ years of experience in an audit-focused public accounting role or in a role handling dynamic accounting responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Exposure to multi-state tax issues, excluding income taxes.
• Commitment to continuous improvement.
• Proactive nature, with a sense of urgency to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, everchanging work environment.
• Analytical focus to be able to identify trends, discover causes of variances, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Daily reconciliation of all bank accounts, investigation and resolution of outstanding items.
• Monthly and quarterly preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns for multiple companies and jurisdictions.
• Monthly and quarterly preparation and filing of IFTA, highway use, and various petroleum tax returns.
• Prepare standard monthly accounting entries and balance sheet reconciliations, propose adjusting entries as needed.
• Respond to various government statistical surveys.
• Other analytical and accounting tasks as assigned.
