Job summary

Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant in Brookfield, CT to join its accounting team. This full-time position is a temporary/contract engagement offering hands-on exposure to daily accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of accounting experience, a solid grasp of GAAP, and proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting software. You’ll maintain ledgers, prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and support budgeting and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
• Familiarity with month-end close procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software or an ERP system.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and post journal entries and accruals.
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Review transactions and investigate discrepancies.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities as needed.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Provide documentation for audit requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and workflows.
• Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as needed.
