Job summary

Barnstormvfx in Los Angeles seeks an experienced Staff Accountant to join our Emmy-nominated visual effects studio. You will manage day-to-day accounting, assist with month-end close, and support cross-department financial reporting in a fast-paced creative environment.

The role requires 3–5 years of accounting experience, familiarity with US/Canadian GAAP, and comfort with multiple currencies and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in entertainment, media, VFX, animation, or creative industries.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with US and/or Canadian GAAP.
• Experience with accrual-based accounting and multiple currencies.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments accurately.
• Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
• Support financial reporting and provide analysis as required.
• Perform consolidations and intercompany reconciliations.
• Work with accrual-based accounting across multiple currencies.
• Coordinate payroll processing with internal teams and external providers as needed.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking.
• Prepare documentation and schedules for external audits and tax filings.

What You'll Do

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the entertainment, media, VFX, animation, or creative industries.
