Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 3-5 years accounting experience.
• 2 years AP/AR experience.
• 2 years payroll experience.
• Proficiency with Excel and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes monthly books.
• Reconciles bank accounts monthly and verifies deposits.
• Reconciles customer accounts.
• Processes payments for accounts payable and ensures correct charging.
• Assists external auditors and gathers required documentation.
• Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local authorities.
• May assist with payroll, fixed assets, trial balances, and related tasks.

Our client base includes small businesses with revenues of $1 M to $75M, including manufacturing, service, and non-profit. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to serve a key role with our clients overseeing various aspects of accounting operations and ensuring financial compliance. Day travel to Grandville and Kalamazoo areas may be required to meet client needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managerial accounting and a proven record of anticipating needs, problem solving, hitting deadlines and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Position Responsibilities

For NFG clients, using generally accepted accounting principles to:

• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
• Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
• Reconciles customer accounts.
• Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
• Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Depending on client needs may assist or complete the following: payroll, manage fixed assets, prepare and/or adjust trial balances, Comp and Review.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements:

• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.

Education and/or Experience
