Job summary

American Homes 4 Rent, L.P. is seeking a Staff Accountant II, Development Accounting to support the monthly accounting cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations and reporting for joint ventures.

You will prepare analyses, assist with audits, and provide financial data to management. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, has at least two years of professional accounting experience (real estate preferred), and is proficient with Microsoft Office and accounting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of two years of professional accounting experience preferred.
• Prior experience in the real estate industry will be preferred.
• Understanding of ledger accounts and sound technical knowledge of basic accounting principles is required.
• Familiarity with accounting software or sub-ledger is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Business Suite and strong Excel skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the accurate closure of the monthly fiscal period by preparing monthly journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure all assigned balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly, with supporting documentation for all balances.
• Prepare monthly reports and supporting schedules for joint venture reporting.
• Guarantee consistent achievement of all processing and reporting deadlines, alerting management of any potential obstacles or issues.
• Oversee quarterly and year-end processing to ensure department deadlines and initiatives are met.
• Support business unit management with financial information requests.
• Assist with annual internal and external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and crosschecking financial statements and footnotes.
