Job summary

Divergent, based in Torrance, CA, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations, reconcile accounts, and prepare journal entries. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with US GAAP, and improving close cycles.

You will own sub-ledgers, assist with month-end close, and collaborate with auditors and tax preparers. The position requires 2–4 years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience (industry or public).
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and basic accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).

Responsibilities

• Cash Reconciliation: Prepare daily bank reconciliations and resolve variances independently.
• Fixed Assets: Own fixed assets and lease schedules, including ASC 842 compliance.
• Month-End Close: Prepare recurring journal entries, account reconciliations, and assist with variance analysis.
• Financial Reporting: Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting packages and present results to senior accountants.
• Coordination with Third Parties: Prepare PBCs for external auditors and serve as point-of-contact.
• Tax Compliance: Assist with sales/use tax and property tax returns.
• Ad-Hoc Projects: Participate in process improvements and ERP enhancements.
