Job summary

Breeze Airways is seeking a Staff Accountant II in Utah to manage a range of accounting duties—from journal entries and reconciliations to asset management and revenue review. You will work with auditors and cross-functional teams to strengthen financial health and accuracy.

The role requires a bachelor’s in accounting, at least two years of staff accounting experience, and strong GAAP knowledge. Proficiency with Excel and Oracle ERP is preferred; Aviation industry experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a staff accounting role.
• Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Proficient with Excel for journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist in training entry-level staff in accounting.
• Coordinate with auditors and respond to queries.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend improvements.
• Track department and project spends and implement efficient processes.
• Review revenue activity for charter, scheduled, and third-party services.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP across areas of responsibility.
• Collaborate with supply chain to manage fixed assets and inventory.
• Support data collection, reporting, and process automation.

A Staff Accountant II at Breeze Airways will be focused on a variety of key accounting roles including but not limited to ASC 330, 360, 606, and 842. Come help us account for our Assets, deal with our Liabilities, and grow our Equity!

Here’s what you’ll do

• Prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner.
• Assist in training and onboarding entry level employees in the accounting department.
• Work closely with external/internal auditors responding to queries and requests.
• Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities, making recommendations to optimize financial performance and strategic position.
• Track department and project spends implement best-practice financial processes that are effective, efficient, and contribute to maintaining and monitoring the financial health of the company.
• Thoroughly review revenue activity for charter, scheduled, and third-party services.
• Ensure all areas of their scope adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Partner with technical supply chain to manage fixed assets and inventory.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as needed, such as data collection, compilation, reporting and process automation and presentation, etc.

Here’s what you need to be successful

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a staff accounting role.
• A high-level understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Proficient in Excel software for the automation of journal entries, account reconciliation, and financial analysis purposes.
• Excellent analytical skills with an ability to translate complex data into actionable strategies.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Must have authorization to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

Preferred Qualifications

• Airline experience reviewing revenue, fixed assets, lease accounting, and/or inventory
• Experience with Oracle ERP accounting software.
