Job summary

Laguna Development Corporation (LDC) is seeking a Staff Accountant II to ensure accurate implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and reporting. The role supports daily, monthly, and year-end closes, including cash receipts processing, revenue recognition, and reconciliations, under the supervision of the Controller.

This Staff Accountant II position is responsible for ensuring the accurate implementation of Laguna Development Corporation (LDC) accounting policies, procedures, and financial reporting requirements. Reporting to and assisting the Controller, the role supports daily, monthly, and year-end accounting operations, including processing cash receipts, recording revenue and receivables, reconciling revenues and cash with the Revenue Audit Team, preparing monthly accruals, prepaid expense amortization, fixed asset depreciation, journal entries, and account reconciliations. The Staff Accountant II reviews and supports the monthly close process, prepares financial reports and board package materials, analyzes financial statements, assists with budgeting and special projects, and provides support for internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation. The position requires ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, US GAAP standards, and maintaining accurate supporting documentation for all balance sheet accounts while meeting strict reconciliation deadlines. Strong accounting knowledge, sound judgment, confidentiality, and attention to detail are essential.

Beyond technical accounting responsibilities, the Staff Accountant II is expected to uphold LDC's core values and maintain professional relationships with guests, coworkers, vendors, and the public. Responsibilities include providing exceptional guest service, building guest loyalty through meaningful interactions, supporting a positive team environment, maintaining knowledge of casino amenities and services, and demonstrating adaptability, teamwork, and professionalism. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, along with three to five years of general accounting experience, knowledge of accounting principles, US GAAP, casino and retail operations, and tribal, federal, and state reporting requirements. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office are required, while experience with MAS 90, MAS 200, and FRX is preferred. The role is office-based with no supervisory responsibilities and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, maintain flexible hours including weekends and holidays when needed, and obtain and maintain a gaming license through the Pueblo of Laguna Gaming Control Board as well as a valid driver's license.
