Job summary

Heartline Staffing is seeking a Staff Accountant I for a junior-level hybrid accounting role in Urbandale, Iowa. You will support day-to-day accounting operations under general supervision and gain exposure to financial reporting, billing, and analyses.

Ideal candidates have an Associate’s degree, 1–3 years of relevant experience, and strong Excel skills. Local reporting onsite about six times per month is required, with a hybrid schedule and room for growth within the accounting team.

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel REQUIRED.
• Ability to commute to the Urbandale, IA office approximately 6 times per month REQUIRED.
• Must currently be local to Urbandale or the surrounding Des Moines metro area REQUIRED.
• General understanding of accounting fundamentals REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

• Perform disbursements, billing, and payment application activities.
• Prepare and review administrative system accounting reports and consolidated statements.
• Analyze and maintain account and client insured records.
• Prepare and analyze accounting reports involving variances, disbursements, billing, and statements.
• Support timely and accurate financial processing.
• Perform variance and trend analysis for key accounts and reports.
• Process disbursements to insured records when applicable.
• Process billing and statement reports to clients or insureds when applicable.
• Assist with development, implementation, and documentation of accounting and operating policies, procedures, and process improvements.
• Support compliance with applicable corporate policies, carrier agreements, SOX procedures, SSAE16 procedures, tax regulations, local GAAP, U.S. GAAP, and local statutory requirements as applicable.

Heartline Staffing is recruiting a Staff Accountant I for a junior-level hybrid accounting opportunity in Urbandale, Iowa. This position provides accounting support under general supervision and is designed for an early-career accounting or finance professional with strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Candidates must be local to the Urbandale / Des Moines area and able to report onsite approximately six times per month.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Staff Accountant I will support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, payment processing, account maintenance, and analysis while working within established accounting policies and procedures.
