Job summary

The Freeman Company is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the corporate accounting team, ensuring the accuracy of financial records by recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting financial reporting and audits.

The role offers a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and is based out of Dallas, TX or Philadelphia, PA, requiring collaboration across operations, AP/AR, HR and procurement to support budgeting and year-end activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• Hands-on corporate accounting experience in a mid-sized company.
• Experience with intercompany settlements, inventory accounting, ASC 842 lease accounting, and/or accounts payable/receivable preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency with a corporate ERP system; SAP or NetSuite preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, MATCH, pivot tables, etc).
• Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting entries and financial records.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update general ledger accounts by recording accurate journal entries and reconciling accounts.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Drive financial analysis and reporting; investigate variances and discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and SOPs; maintain audit trails.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, account management, and shared services (AP, AR, HR, Procurement).
• Support the annual budget process and assist with the year-end audit.
• Provide additional support to the accounting team as needed.
