Job summary

Phoenix Tailings is hiring a Staff Accountant to support the monthly close and daily accounting operations at a fast-growing manufacturer. You will own journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and reconciliations, while preparing schedules for audits.

The ideal candidate is early in their accounting career, detail-oriented, and eager to grow with the finance team as the company scales operations and builds out its finance function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years accounting experience; public accounting a plus.
• Knowledge of GAAP and the month-end close process.
• Experience with an ERP system; NetSuite experience is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable asking questions.
• Eager to learn and take on more ownership in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly close.
• Calculate and record accruals, and maintain supporting documentation.
• Maintain prepaid expense schedules and record monthly amortization.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and research reconciling items.
• Prepare audit schedules and gather documentation in support of the annual audit.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable operations as needed.
• Follow and help document accounting procedures; flag issues and process gaps.
• Support ad hoc reporting and analysis requests from the accounting team.
