Job description

Responsible for the preparation of audited financial statements including subsidiary statements and unaudited financial information. Responsible with assisting in technical accounting matters and internal controls over financial reporting. This position will report directly to the Accounting Supervisor – Financial Reporting and work closely with other members of the accounting and reporting department.

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing audited financial statements including financial statement disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP including preparation of supporting workpapers.
  • Responsible for preparation of U.S. GAAP Checklists and related research related to presentation and disclosure matters resulting from significant transactions or new accounting standards updates as these arise.
  • Responsible for preparing quarterly financial statements for external lenders and other unaudited financial information as required and assisting with regulatory reporting.
  • Responsible for preparing technical accounting memorandum for transactions in the ordinary course of business related to financial reporting.
  • Assist in the enhancement, developing and maintaining accounting policies.
  • Assist with the company’s current process of internal controls over financial reporting including gathering and tracking documentation of internal controls.
  • Complete special projects for management and other financial functions within the department as required.
  • Serve as a primary contract for the external auditors in their audit of the building of the financial statements and related support.
  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned.

Supervision

  • Help support the professional development of members of the financial reporting and corporate accounting team including direct reports co-ops and interns.

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Public accounting experience a plus.
  • 0-3 years of general accounting, financial reporting, or auditing experience. Knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Develop independence and possesses excellent communications and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with various departments throughout the finance organization and business.
  • ERP general ledger/financial reporting experience a plus but not required.
  • Prior financial services industry experience a plus but not required.
