Job summary

Career Foundations is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the monthly close, reconciliations, and financial reporting within a corporate accounting team in Durham, NC. You will work closely with various departments to ensure accurate general ledger activity.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills, with exposure to SAP/Oracle/NetSuite/Microsoft Dynamics preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably within a corporate or public-company environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with account reconciliations and month-end close.
• Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience with SAP/Oracle/NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience with SOX, SEC reporting, or a public accounting background is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and maintain general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and management reporting.
• Perform account analysis and investigate variances and unusual transactions.
• Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
• Assist with quarterly and annual audit requests and provide supporting documentation.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and controls.
• Assist with SOX controls, documentation, and testing.
• Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, and other departments to resolve accounting issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
