Panera Bread is seeking a Staff Accountant to support bakery-cafes, leadership, and other departments with accurate financial reporting and general accounting support.

The role involves owning account reconciliations, updating accruals, and researching variances to ensure accurate monthly accruals across bakery-cafes and overhead departments. Collaboration with management is key, with an emphasis on timely, precise financials.

Qualifications

• Accounting degree required with 2+ yrs of experience.
• Ability to handle high volume and tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Solid technical accounting skills with an ability to understand detailed accounting entries.
• Good communication skills to articulate financials to non-accountants and accountants.
• Friendly, helpful, and driven to achieve.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Workday experience a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and own assigned account reconciliations and analyses each period, quarter, and year-end in an accurate and timely manner.
• Update accrual spreadsheets, pull invoices, and research variances to ensure accruals for bakery-cafes and overhead departments are accurate monthly.
• Participate in reviews with bakery-cafe and overhead management to answer questions pertaining to items within the P&L and develop proactive relationships for excellent service.
• Work within a team on special projects and other ad hoc requests.
