Job summary

Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. is seeking an accounting professional to perform full-cycle payables, 3-way matching, and related financial processes in our Houston office.

You will handle journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations while ensuring accuracy and timely payments. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 1–3 years of accounting experience, along with strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and accounting software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 1-3 years of professional accounting/finance experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently and with others.
• Proficient with MS Office and business applications; strong attention to detail and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Match vendor invoices to purchase orders.
• Verify material received before payment processing.
• Enter invoices into the system and code correctly.
• Prepare weekly check run and process checks for signing.
• Assist with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations (semi-annually).
• Cross-trained in Accounts Receivable for backup coverage.

Job description

Position Purpose:

To execute basic accounting processes in the following areas: full-cycle payables, 3-way matching principle, cash disbursements, journal entries, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Follow established safety rules, policies and procedures at all times
• Match vendor invoices to purchase order
• Verify all material is received prior to processing invoice for payment
• Check receiving documents for correct quantity and pricing
• Verify C/D, P/P, and labels on OS
• Code invoices or ensure coding is correct when matching invoices
• Enter invoices into system
• Resolve invoice issues / discrepancies
• Check with purchasers weekly on open purchase order status
• Prepare weekly check run
• Process checks for signing
• Manage all discount vendors and ensure discounts are properly taken
• Process corrugated invoices and scan all incoming mail weekly
• Communicate to vendors professionally on errors or invoice issues
• Manage the PO receipts report
• Prepare journal entries as assigned by Controller
• Assist with month-end close processes
• Balance sheet reconciliations semi-annually
• Cross-trained in Accounts Receivable to provide seamless backup coverage for manual invoice generation, shipment-based invoice delivery, and customer cash receipt posting.
• Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
• Full-time role in an office setting

Qualifications Desired:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required
• 1‐3 years of professional experience in accounting and finance preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well independently and with others at all levels of the organization
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and business applications
• Detail-oriented and takes pride in the accuracy of work product
• Ability to keep information organized and confidential
