Job summary

Jobtailor in Hartford, CT is seeking a Jr. Accountant to analyze, reconcile and record intermediate-level financial transactions in the ERP system. You will maintain audit trails, prepare financial statements, and ensure GAAP compliance.

You will guide and train junior staff, participate in ERP upgrades, and contribute to accurate reporting for affiliated entities. A Bachelor's in Accounting with 3–5 years of experience is required, along with solid Excel and ERP skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of GAAP.
  • Advanced math and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with Grant Accounting, Fund Accounting and/or Non-Profit Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, reconcile and record intermediate-level financial transactions in the ERP system.
  • Maintain supporting documentation and audit trails.
  • Monitor transactions for compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reporting for Connecticut Children's affiliated companies.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the Jr. Accountant.
  • Train new accounting team members as directed.
  • Prepare, examine and analyze accounting records, financial statements and financial reports.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation for asset, liability and capital accounts.
  • Enter and document financial transactions in the ERP.
  • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow statements and other analytical reports.
  • Audit documents and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Prepare special financial reports and trend analyses.
  • Maintain accounting controls and update standard operating procedures.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies and ensure GL and sub-ledger systems are in balance.
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset, capital budget, depreciation and lease accounting schedules.
  • Prepare audit, tax return and survey analyses, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare invoices, post payments and reconcile non-patient accounts receivable.
  • Participate in ERP implementation and upgrade testing, training and reconciliation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced math and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience with Grant Accounting, Fund Accounting and/or Non-Profit Accounting
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Intermediate analytical and reconciliation skills
