Walla Walla County Public Works is seeking a Staff Accountant to handle fiscal management tasks, including payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, budgeting reporting and revenue tracking. You will maintain inventory records for department resources and ensure adherence to GAAP and BARS within a county government context.

The role is full-time and non-exempt, with comprehensive benefits and a starting salary DOE/DOQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Minimum of four years of progressively responsible accounting, data processing, and budgeting experience.

Responsabilités

• Perform fiscal management work under the Chief Finance Manager (Public Works).
• Assist with payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, budgeting reporting, billing, and revenue receipts.
• Maintain inventory and department resources accounting (property, equipment, parts, fuel, etc.).
• Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP and the State of Washington budgeting/ reporting system (BARS).

**Position: Staff Accountant
Salary Range: $5,355/month - $7180/month; Starting Salary DOQ, DOE

Brief Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs fiscal management work under the direction of the Chief Finance Manager (Public Works). Assists with finance operations, including payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, budgetary reporting, billing, and revenue receipts. Maintains inventory and accounts for use of all department resources such as real property, construction/engineering equipment, repair parts, fuel, gravel, sand, etc. Assures accounting activities comply with generally accepted accounting principles and with the State of Washington’s budgeting accounting and reporting system (BARS). Work is performed independently and requires sound judgment and discretion.

Working Environment/Physical Abilities:

Duties are primarily performed in an office environment with extended periods sitting at a computer terminal and with occasional lifting of objects weighing 15 to 25 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications: Education And Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, data processing, and budgeting; OR a combination of experience, education and training which would provide the level of knowledge and ability, in the opinion of management, required by the position.

Licenses And Other Requirements:

Must successfully pass a background check and a driving record check. Valid driver’s license required.
