Job summary

StevenDouglas is seeking a Staff Accountant in Dallas, TX to join the accounting team on-site. You will own core accounting functions, drive accuracy, and partner with cross-functional teams to improve processes.

The role reports to the Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller and offers opportunities to advance from entry-level tasks to more ownership over monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Background in ecommerce, retail, distribution, or inventory-heavy environments (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, amortization, and general ledger adjustments.
• Complete assigned tasks for the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close accurately and on time.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and research reconciling items so every account is fully supported.
• Review financial results and help investigate and explain account variances.
• Work with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Operations to ensure proper recording and classification of transactions.
• Support inventory accounting, including reconciliations, adjustments, and valuation.
• Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and related documentation.
• Build supporting schedules and workpapers for internal reporting and financial statements.
• Coordinate with external auditors by gathering documentation and responding to requests.
• Follow internal controls and suggest process improvements to strengthen accuracy and efficiency.
• Contribute to special projects, financial analysis, and other accounting initiatives.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
