The Bachrach Group in Spring, TX is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support daily accounting activities including general ledger maintenance, payables, receivables, and the financial close process.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, AP, AR, reconciliations, and close processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems; Oracle preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and handling financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication; team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Record journal entries, accruals, account reclassifications, and other ledger activity.
  • Complete bank, balance sheet, credit card, customer, vendor, and GL reconciliations.
  • Investigate discrepancies and coordinate timely corrections.
  • Apply customer payments to invoices; research partial payments.
  • Review invoices and expense reimbursements for accuracy.
  • Maintain vendor records and verify tax forms and banking information.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close with schedules and analysis.
  • Prepare reporting packages and explain account fluctuations.
  • Maintain documentation for payments, entries, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Collaborate with accounting, billing, purchasing, operations to resolve issues.

Job description

A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support a broad range of daily accounting activities. This position will assist with general ledger maintenance, payables and receivables, account reconciliations, cash application, vendor administration, and financial close responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in accounting, takes ownership of assigned work, and can manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. This individual will collaborate with several internal departments and external business partners to investigate discrepancies, maintain accurate financial records, and support effective accounting controls.

Responsibilities
  • Record standard journal entries, accruals, account reclassifications, and other recurring general ledger activity.
  • Complete assigned bank, balance sheet, credit card, customer, vendor, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Investigate outstanding reconciliation differences and coordinate timely corrections.
  • Apply incoming customer payments to the appropriate invoices and accounts.
  • Research partial payments, unapplied funds, and customer account discrepancies.
  • Review invoices, expense reimbursements, service charges, and other payment requests for accuracy and appropriate authorization.
  • Assign proper accounting codes and confirm that required documentation is received before transactions are processed.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of vendor records by verifying tax forms, payment instructions, banking information, insurance documentation, and approval records.
  • Validate requested changes to vendor payment details, addresses, and bank accounts in accordance with established controls.
  • Review vendor records for possible duplication, incomplete information, or unusual activity.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close by preparing schedules, analyzing assigned accounts, and gathering financial support.
  • Contribute to reporting packages and assist with researching or explaining account fluctuations.
  • Reconcile operational transactions with accounting records and assist with purchase order, inventory, and cost-related activity when needed.
  • Maintain complete and organized documentation for payments, journal entries, reconciliations, approvals, and audit requests.
  • Respond professionally to questions involving invoices, account balances, payments, and required documentation.
  • Partner with accounting, billing, purchasing, operations, and other internal teams to resolve transaction issues.
  • Protect confidential financial and banking information by consistently following internal control procedures.
  • Identify accounting process gaps and recommend practical improvements that promote accuracy and efficiency.
  • Complete additional accounting projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • One to three or more years of professional accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred. Comparable accounting experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Practical understanding of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial close procedures.
  • Experience using an enterprise accounting platform or large ERP system. Oracle experience is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to work comfortably with financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail with a consistent commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to organize competing assignments, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-moving work environment.
  • Sound judgment when handling sensitive financial, vendor, customer, and banking information.
  • Ability to research discrepancies, determine contributing factors, and follow issues through resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional, service-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated accountability, reliability, and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments while also completing work independently.
  • Experience with vendor verification, banking change controls, purchase orders, inventory transactions, or high-volume accounting activity is helpful but not required.
