Job summary

Fundamental is seeking a Staff Accountant to support client facilities in preparing and reconciling financial statements, performing journal entries and monthly tests, and assisting audits. The role covers 6–8 facilities and requires strong analytical skills and reliable transportation.

The position offers full-time benefits starting on the first day after start date, with a salary range of USD 60,000 to 65,000 per year. Healthcare, retirement, and other benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting required.
• 2–3 years of accounting, healthcare auditing, or related experience preferred.
• Experience with financial statement preparation, especially with automated GL/AR/AP/PR systems.
• Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and review financial statements with facility personnel for 6–8 facilities.
• Prepare journal entries and accruals.
• Complete and review monthly revenue tests for reasonableness.
• Prepare and review monthly labor tests.
• Complete account reconciliations and balance sheet analysis monthly.
• Prepare Medicare and Medicaid cost reports as assigned.
• Assist audits (Medicare, Medicaid, and others).
• Assist with annual facility operational projections.

Job description

The Staff Accountant supports client facilities in the processing and completion of account reconciliations and analysis.

Full-time benefits start on the first day of the month following your start date!

Posted Salary Range

USD $60,000.00 - USD $65,000.00 /Yr.

Wage Commensuration

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, education and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Analyze and review the preparation of financial statements with facility personnel for 6-8 facilities (varies by facility type) in a timely manner.
• Prepare journal entries and accruals.
• Complete and review monthly revenue tests for reasonableness.
• Prepare and review monthly labor tests.
• Complete account reconciliations and account analysis in standard format for all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and maintain proper supporting documentation.
• Prepare of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports as assigned.
• Assist in supporting all audits including Medicare, Medicaid, and external and internal financial audits.
• Assist in completion of annual facility operational projection for assigned facilities.
• Assist with other Accounting duties as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting required.
• 2-3 years of experience in accounting, healthcare auditing or accounting experience preferred.
• Financial statement preparation experience required, particularly with automated GL, AR, AP and PR systems.
• Spreadsheet and analytical skills required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Reliable transportation required
