Job summary

Savers Boise, ID-based staff accountant role at a global thrift retailer seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to support monthly close, accounts receivable, revenue and cash reconciliations, lease accounting, fixed assets, quarterly reviews and annual external audit. You will report to the Manager of Accounting and collaborate cross-functionally.

• SOX compliance knowledge and controls experience.
• GAAP knowledge in US and international contexts.
• Strong Excel and ERP systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly close/consolidation and account reconciliation processes.
• Prepare monthly reporting and analysis processes.
• Participate in annual external audit and statutory audits.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, including new standards and their impact.
• Partner with finance, payroll, SEC reporting, and store managers.
• Identify, recommend and implement accounting process improvements.

What you’ll be working on:

The Staff Accountant works in the general accounting function for a global thrift retailer that is publicly traded. The team-member will participate in the financial close process, account’s receivable function, revenue and cash reconciliations, lease accounting, fixed assets, quarterly reviews and the annual external audit. This position reports to the Manager of Accounting.

What you have:

• Prepare/participate in monthly close/consolidation and account reconciliation processes
• Prepare/participate in monthly reporting and analysis processes
• Participate in annual external audit and statutory audit processes
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, including implementation of new standards and impact on business
• A business partner to other departments including finance, payroll, SEC reporting, and store managers among others
• Identifies, recommends, and implements accounting process improvements to support the company goals and objectives
• Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and controls/compliance infrastructure
• Strong knowledge and application of GAAP – US and international
• Change management
• Intellectual curiosity/critical thinking
• Ability to identify areas of improvement and drive results
• Strong sense of urgency
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at a time
• A forward thinking and improvement motivated mindset
• Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge
• Experience with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or other ERP systems is a plus
• Process improvement/project management skills are a plus

Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA is a plus
• Minimum of 1-2 years accounting experience
