Job Description
Our client is a growing organization seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will support general accounting, payroll, project accounting, compliance, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities within a collaborative and professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile and maintain General Ledger accounts and balances.
- Support bi-monthly payroll processing and related payroll activities.
- Maintain accurate employee and accounting records within the company’s ERP system.
- Establish and maintain appropriate accounting records for new hires and subcontractors.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain supporting documentation for payroll, journal entries, accounts payable, fixed assets, and other accounting activities.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with internal accounting policies, GAAP, and applicable government contracting regulations and requirements.
- Support annual and periodic financial audits, incurred cost submissions, and interactions with government audit personnel.
- Partner with project control and accounting teams to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and closeout of active projects.
- Assist with special accounting projects, integrations, and due diligence activities.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies while maintaining accurate and timely financial records.
- Perform additional accounting duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably within the government contracting industry.
- Required experience with Deltek Costpoint.
- Experience with ADP or similar payroll systems preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills; advanced Excel capabilities preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with government contracting accounting requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- U.S. citizenship required. Candidates with dual citizenship should disclose this during the application process.
