Job summary

Tecta America Corp. is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Midwest Regional Finance team in Mankato, Minnesota.

You will support monthly close, financial reporting, project accounting, tax compliance, and regional operations while working with the Regional Controller and unit teams. This role offers hands-on experience in forecasting, variance analysis, and process improvement, with about 25% travel to support inventory counts, audits, and regional projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist with forecasting and periodic reports; ensure GAAP compliance.
• Audit, tax & compliance: support audits, file payroll/sales tax returns, maintain compliance documents.
• Regional support: train/back up regional admin and accounting personnel; assist with process improvements.

We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our Midwest Regional Finance team in Mankato, Minnesota. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the Regional Controller and operating unit teams while supporting multiple business locations throughout the region.

This role provides hands-on experience in financial reporting, forecasting, project accounting, tax compliance, operational analysis, and process improvement. Job Functions:

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting:

• Responsible for monthly and annual close activities for multiple operating units.

• Participate in project review meetings, analyze cost-to-complete estimates, and adjust project budgets to support accurate percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and support schedules.

• Analyze financial results and investigate variances related to forecast and prior period performance.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting packages.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Work with operating units to prepare periodic forecasts.
• Assist Regional Controller and operating unit leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects.

Audit, Tax & Compliance:

• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and required documentation.
• Prepare and file payroll tax returns and sales/use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
• Maintain organized compliance documentation and records.
• Participate in physical inventory counts and reconciliation activities.
• Investigate inventory variances and collaborate with operating unit teams to resolve issues.
• Assist with annual insurance renewals and audit requirements.

Regional and Operating Unit Support:

• Provide support, training, and backup assistance to operating unit admin and accounting personnel within the region.
• Assist the Regional Controller to improve processes, controls, and financial accuracy.

• Take on additional projects and responsibilities that support regional growth and business objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• At least one year of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Construction, project, or job-cost accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP/accounting software systems.
• Multi-entity or multi-location accounting experience.
• Experience with Payroll, AP, AR, Inventory or other areas of accounting.
• Experience with payroll tax and sales/use tax compliance.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily office-based environment.

• Approximately 25% travel throughout the Midwest region to support operating units with inventory counts, training initiatives, audits, and ongoing business and accounting support.
• Standard business hours are Monday through Friday and are based in the Mankato office when not traveling.

• Additional hours may be required during month-end close, year-end activities, audits, or special projects.

Salary Range:

$65,000 - $85,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and skills.
