Job summary

Job description

Position Summary: Performs accounting functions through the duties and responsibilities below.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains accounting data in accordance with department policy and procedures as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
  • Prepares journal entries to the general ledger for assigned segments of business across various companies and object accounts.
  • Performs bank reconciliations monthly for high volume and high dollar operating accounts.
  • Records revenue for assigned segments of business related to contract-based revenue.
  • Records event settlement revenues and expenses.
  • Reconciles receivables and deferred revenue accounts for assigned segments of business.
  • Reconciles general ledger balance sheet accounts.
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly reporting as required by the Accounting Manager.
  • Maintains an effective system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets and other transactions.
  • Develops high level of expertise in the company’s accounting software, JD Edwards and Hubble.
  • Seeks continual growth and expertise in the accounting and finance function and embraces cross‑training opportunities within the Accounting and Finance Department.
  • Potentially assists with event work.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced coursework in finance preferred.
  • 2–3 years experience in finance and/or accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of standard accounting practices and experience with accounting systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
  • High degree of proficiency with data entry functions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook, and ability to learn other basic computer programs.
