Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 2+ years of accounting experience
- Solid understanding of debits and credits, the accounting cycle, and accrual-basis accounting
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or a comparable general ledger system

Preferred
- Experience in a structured accounting department at a mid-size or large company, with a formal month-end close calendar and reconciliation reviews
- Public accounting experience
- Experience supporting a financial statement audit
- Experience in construction, contracting, or another job-cost environment (WIP schedules, retainage, progress billing)
- Exposure to payroll processing, union reporting, or certified payroll
- Familiarity with BILL.com or similar AP automation tools
Skills and competencies
- Accuracy and attention to detail. Entries tie out, coding is right the first time, and reconciliations are clean.
- Ownership. Takes responsibility for the books daily, follows items through to resolution, and flags problems early.
- Organization. Manages recurring weekly and monthly deadlines across AP, payroll, and close without being chased.
- Curiosity. Wants to understand why a transaction is coded a certain way, not just how.
- Communication. Works comfortably with field staff, vendors, customers, and leadership; writes clear emails and documents procedures.
