• Hands-on Sage 500 ERP experience or similar mid‑market ERP.
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries per U.S. GAAP and generate trial balances.
• Close month and year with reconciliations and asset schedules.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Reconcile inventory-related GL accounts and support stock counts.
• Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow tracking.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day general ledger operations, drive accurate financial reconciliations, and support our month-end close process. Operating out of our Gastonia facility, you will serve as a key financial liaison between corporate accounting and plant operations using Sage 500 ERP.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Financial Reporting: Prepare and post standard, adjusting, and recurring journal entries in compliance with U.S. GAAP. Generate trial balances, P&L statements, balance sheets, and ad-hoc operational reports using Sage 500 ERP.

Month-End & Year-End Close: Execute close procedures, including prepaids, accruals, fixed asset schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure complete data integrity.

Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee coding accuracy, vendor payment schedules, customer invoicing, cash receipts processing, and collection support.

Inventory & Cost Accounting Support: Reconcile inventory-related GL accounts, track variances, and partner with plant managers on physical inventory counts and stock adjustments.

Treasury & Banking: Complete monthly bank reconciliations and track cash flow schedules.

Tax Compliance & Audit Support: Compile data for sales/use tax and property tax filings. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external auditors.

Master Data & Process Improvement: Maintain ERP master data (GL accounts, vendor, and customer files) under strict internal controls. Proactively identify ways to leverage Sage 500 functionality to optimize financial operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.

Experience: 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience. Prior experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial plant environment is strongly preferred.

ERP Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Sage 500 ERP (or similar mid-market ERPs such as Sage 100/300, Epicor, Infor, or NetSuite).

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, and cost accounting basics. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, data formatting).

Soft Skills: Clear communication skills with the ability to bridge finance and plant operations, sharp attention to detail, and proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions & Expectations

On-site office environment within a manufacturing plant setting, requiring regular collaboration with production, purchasing, and supply chain teams.

Standard full-time schedule, with occasional extended hours during month-end or year-end close cycles.
