Job summary

Smiths Detection in the United States is seeking an experienced accountant to oversee general ledger activities, monthly close, and subsidiary financial reporting. You will ensure GAAP compliance and accurate consolidation of group results.

Responsibilities include journal entries, treasury support, and audit cooperation while maintaining strong internal controls. A bachelor’s degree in accounting and 3–5 years’ experience are required, with SAP and Excel skills highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting is required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting roles.
  • ERP experience is preferred (SAP).
  • Proficient in Excel and MS Office; QuickBooks experience is a plus.

  • Lead financial reporting and accounting for subsidiary companies in accordance with GAAP.
  • Process journal entries and adjustments in coordination with Financial Services.
  • Support treasury functions including cash management and reporting.
  • Assist internal and external audits to ensure policy compliance and strengthen internal controls.

Job Description

Essential functions—essential functions, including how an individual is to perform them and the frequency with which the tasks are performed; the tasks must be part of the job function and truly necessary or required to perform the job.

Job duties to include but are not limited to;

  • Responsibility for maintaining, reconciling, and analyzing assigned general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Lead the financial reporting and accounting activities of subsidiary companies, ensuring compliance with corporate accounting policies and GAAP requirements.
  • Processing of journal entries and adjustments in relation to accounts included above, which will also require working with the Financial Services Department throughout the fiscal month.
  • Support treasury functions including cash management, account analysis, and related reporting functions.
  • Support internal and external audit processes to ensure compliance with policy and procedures
  • Supporting internal controls framework and maintaining internal control documentation in relation to the general ledger

Required/Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

Years of Experience:3-5 years

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • ERP experience, SAP Preferred
  • Intermediate or above User of Excel and Microsoft Office programs
  • Quickbooks
  • Strong analytical skills, motivated, able to meet required deadlines, and detail-oriented
  • The ability to communicate across all levels of the organization

The total compensation for this position ranges from $62,700 - $103,510/yr (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, & abilities of the applicant and the alignment with the internal team & market data). This role offers a competitive Business Profit Plan. This position includes a competitive benefits package. The comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental & vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid time off; and other benefits.
