Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 1–4 years of accounting or finance experience (public or corporate).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including pivot tables and complex formulas, data validation, and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries; maintain general ledger.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial data using advanced Excel models and formulas.
  • Develop and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets for reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Use pivot tables, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, and nested formulas daily.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare schedules for audits and internal reviews.
  • Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for process improvement through data analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Support ad hoc financial and operational analysis projects.

Summary

City Electric Supply (CES) is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with exceptional Excel skills to support core accounting functions and financial reporting. This role is highly data-driven and ideal for someone who enjoys working with large datasets, building spreadsheets, and improving processes through automation and analysis. Essential Job Functions
  • Prepare and post journal entries; maintain accurate general ledger records.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1–4 years of accounting or finance experience (public or corporate).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including pivot tables and pivot charts, complex formulas and functions, large data set management, data validation and error checking, and spreadsheet automation and efficiency improvements is required.
  • Experience automating reports or improving Excel-based workflows (preferred, not required).
  • Exposure to Power Query, Power Pivot, or VBA (preferred, not required).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable handling several accounting projects and month-end close tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
