Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support accurate financial reporting and month-end close in Corona, California.

You will perform journal entries, reconciliations, SOX checklists, and cost analysis while collaborating with cross-functional teams to verify ASC 606 revenue recognition and contract values.

This role requires a BA/BS in Accounting and at least four years of experience, with strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum four years of accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong accuracy, confidentiality, and data entry skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and time management.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general accounting tasks and maintains accurate financial records.
  • Creates and posts journal entries and clears bank adjusting entries.
  • Completes monthly bank reconciliations and SOX checklists.
  • Reconciles petty cash and verifies company credit card transactions.
  • Supports accounts payable and RNI reconciliations.
  • Assists with month-end reporting and data gathering for cost analysis.
  • Verifies contract values and supports ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Updates job status in the ERP system.

Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs.

In this role, you support accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency by maintaining reliable accounting records, performing key reconciliations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your work ensures compliance with established accounting standards, supports timely month-end close activities, and contributes to effective revenue recognition and cost analysis across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Performs general accounting tasks and maintains accurate financial records.
  • Creates and posts journal entries and clears bank adjusting entries.
  • Completes monthly bank reconciliations and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) checklists.
  • Reconciles petty cash and verifies company credit card transactions.
  • Provides backup support for accounts payable and reconciles Received Not Invoiced (RNI) accounts.
  • Sends vendor payment remittances and supports month‑end reporting activities.
  • Investigates general ledger (GL) variances to ensure an accurate and timely close.
  • Assists with data gathering for cost analysis, including cost validation for percentage of completion (POC).
  • Coordinates with Contracts and Finance teams to verify contract values and support revenue recognition under Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 606.
  • Updates job status and verifies information in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent data entry, analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Effective verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, stress, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
