Job summary

Core Specialty Insurance Services, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our general accounting team in a hybrid work environment.

You will contribute to the monthly close, accounting accruals, and asset capitalization while coordinating with FP&A and division presidents on DAC/NDAC analyses. The ideal candidate holds a BA in accounting or finance with strong US GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and a team-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.
• Insurance industry experience is a plus.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for the general accounting team.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
• Assist in ensuring an effective control environment.
• Collaborate with FP&A on monthly BV&A analysis for all cost centers and spend categories.
• Prepare DAC calculations and update assumptions with division presidents.
• Prepare NDAC calculations and update assumptions with division presidents.
• Record monthly and quarterly expense accruals with cost center owners.
• Assist with reports for state and regulatory filings.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Undertake other duties as needed.

Job description

- The Staff Accountant will be a critical member of our general accounting team. They will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance of general accounting accruals and capitalized assets, as well as assisting with cost center, divisional, and legal entity allocations. Position is open to a hybrid work environment.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for the general accounting team
• Prepare monthly and quarterly account reconciliation for balance sheet accounts
• Assist in ensuring we have an effective control environment
• Work with FP&A on monthly basis for BvA analysis for all cost centers and all spend categories
• Prepare DAC calculation, including working with the various division presidents on a periodic basis to update the assumptions that go into the DAC and calculation
• Prepare NDAC calculation, including working with the various division presidents on a basis to update the assumptions that go into the NDAC and calculation
• Work with the cost center owners and division presidents to identify and record monthly and quarterly expense accruals
• Assist with preparation of reports and statements for various state and regulatory filings
• Assis with internal and external audit requests
• In addition to key responsibilities, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the company may reasonably require

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required Insurance experience is a plus
