Job summary

Anticimex Carolinas seeks a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This role maintains the general ledger, supports financial reporting, and ensures timely month-end and year-end close activities.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of corporate accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills. We offer growth opportunities in a safety-first environment with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
  • 1–3 years of corporate accounting experience with GL, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting principles.
  • Proficient Excel skills including PivotTables and VLOOKUP.
  • Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare and post general ledger journal entries (cash, accruals, prepaid, intercompany, bad debt).
  • Record and reconcile daily cash activity.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting (additions, disposals, depreciation).
  • Collaborate with AP to ensure proper expense coding.
  • Work with AR to post and reconcile cash receipts.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects.
  • Document accounting procedures and best practices.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This role is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of month-end and year-end close activities.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do:
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare and post general ledger journal entries, including cash transactions, accruals, prepaid expenses, intercompany expenses, bad debt reserves, and other accounting activities.
  • Record and reconcile daily cash activity.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial statements and reporting.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations within established deadlines.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, sales, and monthly depreciation.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate expense coding.
  • Work closely with Accounts Receivable to ensure customer payments are properly posted and reconciled with cash activity.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects.
  • Support the development and documentation of accounting procedures and best practices.
  • Provide backup support for various accounting functions as needed.
  • Contribute to department goals while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
  • 1-3 years of corporate accounting experience required, including general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and experience with monthly close in a mid-sized or large corporate environment.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting principles.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Ability to manage priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other general ledger/accounting systems.
  • Experience reviewing financial statements and performing account reconciliations.
  • Fixed asset accounting experience.
