Job summary

Probst Electric Inc. in Caldwell, Idaho is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the finance team.

You will support day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting for a growing utility construction company with national project exposure. The role requires a degree in accounting, experience with month-end close, and strong Excel skills; JD Edwards experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or related field required.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger and cost accounting functions in support of construction operations.
• Reconcile bank accounts and other general ledger accounts—collaborate with departments to resolve discrepancies.
• Support preparation and filing of required federal, state, and local tax forms.
• Execute month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and cross-departmental workflow.

About This Role

Probst Electric, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to join our Caldwell, Idaho finance team. Reporting to the Controller, this role supports day‑to‑day accounting operations, including month‑end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. What You’ll Do

What You’ll Bring

• Degree in Accounting or a related field
• Experience with JD Edwards is preferable, but not required
• Prior construction industry accounting experience preferred, but not required
• Experience supporting month‑end close processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office, with the ability to analyze and manage financial data
• Ability to pass required drug and background screening
