Job summary

RethinkFirst is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance team, reporting to the Controller. This role handles day-to-day accounting, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and supports the month-end close.

Ideal candidates have an undergraduate degree in accounting/finance with 2–3 years of accounting experience, advanced Excel, and experience with Sage Intacct. This remote-first position offers comprehensive benefits and is open to candidates nationwide.

• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
• Experience with Sage Intacct ERP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Assist month-end close with balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines for financial reporting and management review.
• Support external auditors with requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with policies and GAAP standards.

This will be a key role in our accounting function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Assist the month-end close process, including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines are met for financial reporting and management review.
• Support external auditors by providing requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP standards

Qualifications & Skills:

• Preferred undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, with 2 - 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (ability to create pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions)
• Experience with ERP system like Sage Intacct preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently on deliverables to achieve accurate results.
• Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and maintain excellent communication regarding deliverables.
• Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with members of the senior management team and others within the Company
