Responsibilities

• Supports payables and internal controls across departments
• Reconciles entries and verifies balances
• Records month- and year-end accruals and AP journal entries
• Handles AP for multiple entities and vendors with proper coding
• Assists in vendor setup, invoicing, inquiries, and communications
• Prepares analyses of accounts and monthly reports
• Supports improvements to financial processes and procedures
• Participates in audits and special projects
• Performs other duties as assigned

SUMMARY

We are looking for an energetic Staff Accountant looking to obtain accelerated learning and experience in a fast-paced, high growth health insurance environment.

Our health insurance organization is currently seeking an entry level Staff Accountant based in Austin, TX. The Staff Accountant will perform a variety of generalized aspects of accounting within the company, including reconciliation tasks, day to day, monthly and year end tasks, obligation tracking and assisting in preparation of financial statements. A successful candidate will possess excellent data analysis, start‑up flexibility, superior time management and prioritization skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures proper internal control and support, including supporting other company departments as it relates to payables

• Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances

• Records month, year end accruals, and other accounts payable related journal entries

• Handles accounts payable for multiple related entities and vendors, properly coding for accurate financial statements.

• Assists in all facets of vendor relations from facilitating setup, entering invoices, managing vendor inquiries and communication.

• Prepares analyses of accounts and produces monthly reports

• Supports improvements to financial processes and procedures

• Participates in special projects and external/internal audits as required

• This position assumes and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior experience with NetSuite ERP System is a plus.

• Strong Microsoft Office skills - comfortable with pivot tables, v-lookups and match or willingness to learn

• Authorized to work in the US

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field required (3.0 GPA or greater)
