Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Staff Accountant to join a growing, mission-driven organization in Atlanta. The role focuses on detailed financial activity, accurate reporting, and supporting close processes.

You will work with senior accounting leadership on daily operations, revenue tracking, and month-end close, with strong emphasis on accuracy, controls, and timely, reliable financial statements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 3+ years of accounting experience in mid-size to large org
• Hands-on with general ledger, cash activity, AR/AP, and reconciliations
• Research issues, investigate discrepancies, and follow through to resolution
• Strong Excel skills and comfort across accounting systems
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Proactive mindset with a willingness to dig in and problem-solve
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Clear communicator with a service-oriented approach
• Stability in work history with demonstrated commitment in prior roles

Responsibilities

• Contribute to month-end close activities including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assist in preparing schedules and documentation for audits and tax filings
• Support recurring accruals and expense allocations to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Help strengthen and maintain accounting procedures and documentation
• Review and reconcile daily cash activity across multiple accounts
• Prepare and post journal entries related to cash, internal allocations, and routine transactions
• Handle deposits and investigate discrepancies or unidentified activity
• Record and validate incoming funds from various sources (including electronic and investment-related activity)
• Maintain accuracy across subledger and general ledger activity
• Ensure proper handling and compliance for more complex contributions (e.g., securities or restricted funds)
• Generate invoices and monitor collections activity
• Review outstanding balances and assist with follow-up efforts

The right candidate for this Staff Accountant role will have:

• 3+ years of accounting experience in a mid-size to large organization
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Hands-on experience with general ledger, cash activity, AR/AP, and reconciliations
