Job summary

Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL invites applications for a Staff Accompanist in its Music Department. The position involves vocal and instrumental accompanying for bachelor and master level students in recitals, juries, convocations, seminars, lessons, and rehearsals.

Staff Accompanist

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assignments will include vocal and instrumental accompanying including Bachelor and Master level students in recitals, juries, convocations, seminars, lessons, and rehearsals. Assignments may also include accompanying vocal ensembles and/or serving as pianist for the Wind Ensemble or Symphony Orchestra, and other duties as assigned.

• RANK & SALARY: 9-month appointment; $35,568 - $38,765 per year.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree.
• Successful experience as a collaborative pianist with a substantial and significant repertoire.
• Excellent sight reading and the ability to quickly learn new repertoire is expected.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters or Doctorate in Accompanying or Piano.
• For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
• Applicants for this position must be authorized to work in the U.S. without WIU sponsorship. Sponsorship for work authorization will not be considered for this position.
