STABLE & LESSON SUPPORT STAFF



Premier Accredited Therapeutic Horsemanship Center in Lancaster MA is seeking experienced Barn Staff Members to join our team. Candidates must have horse care knowledge and intermediate horsemanship skills. The position requires that the Candidate supports the centers mission to create a therapeutic and supportive environment to meet the unique needs of the students we serve. As part of a large Community Agency, candidate must commit to annual trainings offered through RFK Community Alliance and the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship Intl.


Responsibilities/Duties


  • Contribute to the overall health of the horses and small farm animals

  • Conduct morning and/or evening feeding of horses and small farm animals Turn in/out horses

  • Provide minor medical care to horses and small animals as required

  • Cleaning and maintaining stall, paddock and small animal habitats

  • Assist with veterinary and equine professional visits

  • Assist with maintaining the facilities and grounds to ensure a clean and safe environment

  • Maintain aisle ways, tack room, offices and storage areas to free from debris, dust and trash

  • Receive and stack barn supplies such as grain, supplements, tack and horse maintenance items

  • Assist the riding instructor with grooming and tacking horses as needed for horsemanship lessons



  • Provide lesson support to the riding instructor as a leader or side-walker

  • Assist with the conditioning of horses



Qualifications/Key Skills


  • 3-5 years' experience working at a fully operational riding and/or boarding facility

  • Equine first aid

  • Intermediate horsemanship skills

  • Experience working with and caring for small farm animals is a plus

  • Requires stamina and strength to manage daily physical chores and duties

  • Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Capable of working and caring for the herd and small animals independently

  • Embodies a strong work ethic, be a flexible thinker, presents in a welcoming and professional manner

  • Requires strength and stamina to work in inclement weather and lift 50plus pounds

  • Requires compassion to work in a program that serves children and adults with special needs.



Available Shifts:


Position 1 (25 hours)

Sunday 8AM-2PM, Monday-Tuesday 3-8:30PM, Wednesday 12-8PM


Position 2 (30 hours)

Wednesday 8AM-2PM, Thursday 2:30-8:30PM, Friday-Saturday 8AM-5PM

Pay Range: $17.25 - $17.50 per hour
