Job description

Summary: Stable Attendants will provide exceptional customer service and care
to members, guests, and horses while promoting a fun, productive and safe environment for all.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. The Stable Attendant (Groom) will provide top quality care and customer service for horses and clients of Longfield Stables.
  2. Ensure standards of safety are upheld and adhered to at all times by employees, guests, and clients of Longfield Stables.
  3. Meet or exceed client expectations with regard to horse care, upkeep of facilities, and customer service.
  4. Daily cleaning of barns, pastures, and facilities.
  5. Feeding and watering horses.
  6. Daily horse care (grooming, turnout, bringing horses in from pasture, tacking and untacking).
  7. Monitoring of turnout areas for safety and cleanliness; assistance with event setup.
  8. Weekly stocking of supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 1 year working in an equine/equestrian facility with similar duties and requirements.
  2. Minimum 2 years hands-on horse experience.
  3. High school education or equivalent preferred.
  4. Prior knowledge of horses and equine behavior required.
  5. Knowledge of basic horse health, first aid, and nutrition.
  6. Knowledge of farm machinery such as tractors and equipment preferred.
  7. Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented.
  8. Good problem-solving abilities.
  9. Excellent horse husbandry and horse handling skills.
  10. Must be able to remain calm, think clearly, and act quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
