Job description

St. Vincent de Paul School in Fort Wayne is seeking a full-time 4th Grade Lead Teacher. The teacher will be responsible for integrating the mission of St. Vincent’s and the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend into all aspects of planning, teaching, grading, and school duties, with the goal of enhancing student development in our 4th grade classes.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Understand, believe in, and communicate joyfully about the school's mission and belief statements in all endeavors.
  2. Commit to highly engaged, active learning that serves all student needs.
  3. Provide a grade-appropriate instructional program for 4th-grade students, with the ability to plan for different academic readiness levels.
  4. Maintain an attractive, organized, and engaging learning environment.
  5. Develop lesson plans with clear objectives aligned with the Diocesan Curriculum.
  6. Collaborate with colleagues in resource and intervention departments, instructional coaching, and student counseling to support overall student needs, including VBIS and Olweus programs.
  7. Use technology effectively and appropriately, in accordance with school belief statements.
  8. Maintain appropriate classroom control using VBIS techniques to foster a positive learning environment.
  9. Keep accurate records of students' progress and development, including using systems like PowerSchool.
  10. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, students, staff, and administration, following school policies.
  11. Perform duties related to student supervision before, during, and after school, including lunch, recess, dismissal, detention, and other responsibilities assigned by administration.
  12. Participate in faculty meetings, school committees, and in-service training.
  13. Attend school events such as Back to School Nights, Open Houses, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and other activities as requested.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  2. Current IDOE certification.
  3. Successful experience in student teaching or classroom teaching.
  4. Positive references and recommendations.
  5. Ability to promote and witness to the Roman Catholic Faith.
  6. Understanding and acceptance of Catholic school philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  7. Comfortable with the use of various technology systems and applications.
