Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the 119 Surgery department at the UAB St. Vincent's One Nineteen campus. The role focuses on facilitating safe, efficient surgical procedures and supporting the team during operations on dayshift with assigned late shifts.

Requirements include a surgical technologist program (or 4+ years of relevant experience), high school diploma equivalency, and BLS preferred. UAB St.

Qualifications

• High school diploma equivalency and completion of a surgical technologist program with clinical component.
• Minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience may substitute.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.

What You Will Do

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.
