Job description

St. Michael, Plymouth - Elementary Teacher (Plymouth, IN)

The elementary schoolteacher will report directly to the School Principal. The position is full-time, and the selected candidate will receive an annual salary based on the Diocesan teacher scale, along with full benefits from the Diocese of Ft. Wayne - South Bend.

St. Michael Catholic School’s mission is to extend the knowledge and practice of the Catholic Faith, promote academic success, and nurture lifelong learners and productive citizens.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Based on our Core Values and Root Beliefs, the elementary grade teacher will:

  • Build relationships with students rooted in respect and love, following Christ’s example.
  • Provide general education instruction to all elementary students.
  • Teach Math, English/Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Religion (if Catholic).
  • Follow the Diocesan Pacing Guide and Frameworks for the grade level.
  • Use a planbook system detailing the subject matter for each lesson.
  • Integrate Catholic faith into all lessons, highlighting the Truth, Beauty, and Goodness of academic subjects.
Leading Through Faith (Professionalism):
  • Incorporate prayer into daily routines and attend School Mass with the class.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
  • Serve on committees as needed.
  • Possess or pursue an Indiana elementary teaching license; a literacy endorsement is a plus.
  • Dress professionally.
  • Have basic computer skills and proficiency in Google Classroom.
Communication and Growth Opportunities:
  • Communicate respectfully and clearly with adults and students in a Christ-centered manner.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and specials staff to create cross-curricular lessons.
  • Engage with parents regarding school events and student progress.
  • Assign tasks to paraprofessionals in the classroom.
  • Participate in growth opportunities provided by school administration.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and build relationships with parents for student success.
Position-Specific Duties:
  • Utilize diverse instructional techniques to engage learners.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet individual student needs.
  • Live out faith in the classroom, connecting faith with instruction.
  • Stay current with teaching practices to promote continuous student growth.
