St. Joseph's Helpers in Michigan is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Coordinator to strengthen volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, engagement, and retention.

You will develop standardized procedures, manage volunteer databases, and create resources that improve the volunteer experience while collaborating with SJH staff and other VISTAs throughout the service year. Program sites include Detroit, Ann Arbor and Flint.

Qualifications

• Organize volunteer applications and records, improve screening and background check procedures, develop orientation and training materials.

St. Joseph's Helpers (SJH) is a nonprofit organization founded on Christian values and dedicated to helping individuals feel safe and secure in their homes. Through a network of more than 390 volunteers, SJH provides critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and community resources to seniors, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and households experiencing financial hardship. SJH is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Coordinator to strengthen volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, engagement, and retention systems. This position offers an opportunity to gain experience in nonprofit volunteer management, community engagement, organizational development, and program coordination. The VISTA member will help improve volunteer recruitment and screening procedures, organize volunteer applications and records, coordinate orientation and training resources, and develop systems for matching volunteers with appropriate opportunities. Responsibilities include improving volunteer databases, maintaining scheduling tools, preparing communications, and creating resources that support consistent volunteer participation. The member will also help coordinate volunteer engagement and recognition activities, develop volunteer appreciation materials, and gather feedback to identify opportunities for improving the volunteer experience. Additional activities include organizing volunteer participation records, tracking recruitment and retention information, and strengthening communication between volunteers and SJH staff. Throughout the service year, the member will collaborate with SJH staff and other VISTA members to develop standardized volunteer management procedures, training materials, and organizational resources that improve efficiency and support the continued growth of SJH's volunteer network.

Member Duties :

Activities include improving volunteer databases, scheduling systems, communication templates, and participation tracking. The member will also support volunteer engagement and recognition activities, prepare volunteer updates and appreciation materials, and gather feedback to improve the volunteer experience. They will develop standardized procedures for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and recordkeeping. By the end of the service year, the member will compile a volunteer coordination toolkit and transition materials to support sustainable volunteer management.
