Job summary

About Our Congregation

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Stacy, Minnesota, is seeking its next pastor to serve as spiritual leader and shepherd of the congregation. Founded in 1904, St. John’s is a welcoming and growing community of approximately 125 members, rooted in Word and Sacrament ministry and a strong Lutheran theological heritage. We became affiliated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) in 2011 and value both biblical faithfulness and flexibility for local mission. Located in a small-town setting north of the Twin Cities, our congregation reflects a close-knit, multigenerational community where relationships matter, and people are known and cared for. Congregational life is centered in worship, discipleship, and fellowship, with active participation from members of all ages. Our in-house ministry, Little Angels Preschool (est. 1998), is a valued outreach in the community and was recently voted #1 preschool in Chisago County.

St. John’s Lutheran Church is seeking a full-time pastor who is ordained and faithfully adheres to the LCMC Statement of Faith and the congregation’s Confession of Faith. The ideal candidate will demonstrate soundness in doctrine, aptness to teach, and a life above reproach, with strong communication, administrative, and leadership abilities. LCMC certification and a Master of Divinity from an accredited Lutheran seminary are preferred, along with a minimum of five years of ministry experience and a willingness to live within the local community. We are seeking a pastor who is both passionate and relational; someone who feels called to grow with us. We desire a leader who will integrate into the life of the congregation and the surrounding community, supporting the church’s present ministry while helping cultivate future growth. With a hope to attract younger families, we value a pastor who is evangelistic, engages the community, and proclaims Scripture clearly, teaching its context and faithfully connecting it to daily life. We also value our music ministry and hope our next pastor will support and strengthen it. Key responsibilities include:

• Faithfully preaching the Word, administering the Sacraments, and leading public worship consistent with LCMC practices, including weekly communion and children’s messages
• Providing pastoral care through visitation, counseling, catechesis, confirmation, weddings, funerals, and care for the homebound.
• Offering spiritual and administrative leadership in partnership with the Church Council, including meetings, staff supervision, and maintaining congregational records.
• Supporting congregational ministries such as Christian education, youth, missions, stewardship, outreach, and Little Angels Preschool, including weekly chapel and board participation.
• Engaging the community, fostering relationships, and contributing to regular communication such as newsletters and coordinated worship planning.
