Job summary

Environmental and Safety Solutions, Inc. seeks an experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee safety operations for construction projects in Jacksonville, NC.

The SSHO will ensure compliance with OSHA, USACE, EM 385-1-1 and project specifications to protect personnel and property. You will conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, site inspections, and manage Hazard mitigation, incident reporting, and coordination with project management and government representatives to

Qualifications

• Must have construction safety experience with knowledge of OSHA and EM 385-1-1.
• Experience with USACE, federal, or military construction preferred.
• Strong knowledge of hazard recognition, inspections, and safety documentation.
• Must possess applicable safety certifications and meet Fort Hood access requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily site safety and conduct jobsite inspections.
• Implement and maintain the project APP and AHAs.
• Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
• Monitor subcontractors, PPE, housekeeping, and safe work practices.
• Oversee high-risk activities including excavation, fall protection, confined space, electrical, crane/rigging, and heavy equipment operations.
• Investigate incidents and near misses and maintain safety documentation.
• Identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions.
• Work directly with project management and government/USACE representatives.

Qualifications
