Job summary

PMAT is a mission-focused defense contractor supporting the U.S. Navy's Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) program.

The SSDS Technical Operator will operate, activate, test, and troubleshoot SSDS aboard the Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) located at Wallops Island, Virginia, working with government and contractor engineers to prepare complex combat systems for developmental and operational testing. Daily duties include bringing combat systems from cold iron status to fully operational configurations,

Qualifications

• Ten years of experience supporting Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) platforms.
• Four years leading technical and/or tactical operators in U.S. Navy surface weapon systems.
• Three years hands-on with SSDS baselines to bring systems to operational readiness.
• Experience supporting combat systems testing, integration, or OT activities.
• Strong understanding of U.S. Navy combat systems and surface warfare concepts.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues.
• Ability to work in fast-paced OT environments with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills documenting findings.

Responsibilities

• Operate, configure, and support SSDS during test events.
• Bring SSDS combat systems from cold iron to fully operational readiness.
• Perform initialization, alignment, configuration verification, and checks prior to test execution.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and integration issues to restore function.
• Coordinate with government personnel and engineers to execute tests and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor system performance during live and simulated events and document observations.
• Maintain accurate logs, test documentation, and configuration records.
• Provide technical feedback to improve system performance and test execution.
