Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years’ experience, or no degree with 10+ years technical Navy systems experience.
  • Experience supporting Navy SSDS MK2 combat system and interfaces aboard USN platforms.
  • Ability to define test standards for shipboard, land-based and enterprise ICS products.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop rigorous test standards for the T&E USN shipboard, land-based, and enterprise ICS products.
  • Review, test, validate, and verify SRS/SSS and analyze test results and trends.
  • Create, maintain, and execute test procedures for LBET, CSIT, SBDT, and Enterprise Test events.
  • Test and evaluate new software releases during product development.
  • Provide technical expertise on products and operating environments.
  • Establish and maintain test processes and requirements documents.
  • Report and document test results in TOR database.
  • Configure hardware and environments for testing.
  • Collaborate with product management and writers to ensure manuals align with software.
  • Interface with customers, vendors, and departments to resolve test failures.
  • Assist junior engineers and review their reports.

Job description

Role and Responsibilities:

We are seeking qualified SSDS Operators to support mission-critical naval operations and testing efforts. Duties include: system engineering, test analysis, and technical doc support. The position is located at Wallops Island, VA.

Position Duties:

  • Either Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other technical degree and minimum of 4 years’ experience or no degree with a minimum of 10 years technical experience supporting Navy systems experience.
  • Support all aspects of SSDS MK2 combat system and its peripheral system interfaces installed aboard USN platforms.
  • Define and develop rigorous test standards for the T&E USN shipboard, land-based, and enterprise Integrated Combat System (ICS) products, software, and equipment.
  • Review, test, validate, and verify element-level System Requirements Specification (SRS), System Subsystem Specification (SSS) and evaluate test results, and test trends and implement corrective action as needed.
  • Review, create, develop, maintain, and execute test procedures for the conduct of Land Based Engineering Test (LBET), Combat System Integration Test (CSIT), Shipboard Developmental Test (SBDT), and Enterprise Test events
  • Test and evaluate new software releases during product development
  • Provide technical expertise on specific products, operating systems, and specialized environments
  • Establish and maintain test processes and requirements documents
  • Report and document test results and enter problems and issues into the Trouble Observation Report (TOR) database
  • Configure necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing
  • Collaborate with product management and technical writers to ensure system and user manuals are in synch with the software to ensure that quality is "built in" from the ground up
  • Interface with customers, vendors, and various company departments to resolve problems that cause test failures
  • Assist junior engineers in the development of test procedures and actual test conduct
  • Generate reports and review documents generated by junior engineers
  • Review and study information from suppliers regarding materials and components to be utilized
  • May work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with own transportation and able to travel.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete background check and get a government clearance.
  • Must be able to follow company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to write, speak and understand English and able to write clear, detailed technical monthly reports.
