Leidos is seeking an experienced Chief Security Officer (CSO) to lead a new program of security strategy and initiatives. The CSO will develop, implement, and manage comprehensive security programs to protect company assets, sensitive data, and intellectual property. Responsibilities include overseeing physical and cybersecurity operations, and liaising with Contracting Officer’s Representatives and Task Managers on security and privacy matters related to customer information and systems security. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in security leadership, strategic thinking, and effective communication at the executive level. Candidates must reside in Maryland/Virginia and be available to work onsite at one of our DMV offices.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of a robust security strategy.
  • Oversee the implementation of security policies, procedures, and standards across the program.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable security regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of security measures, recommending improvements as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information security, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in security management, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific security regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or NIST.
  • Proven experience leading physical security and cybersecurity teams, managing complex security operations, and developing security strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strategic thinking and decisive action in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of security technologies, threat intelligence, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Familiarity with physical security systems, surveillance, and access control mechanisms.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements applicable to security practices.
  • Ability to build and lead an effective security operation and integrate security efforts organization-wide.

Clearance Required:

  • Must successfully clear a Public Trust background check during employment.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $80,600.00 - $145,700.00
